The Book Lamp - gifts made with love

My eldest daughter, Hannah (10), is a lover of reading and all things having to do with books, so this year for Christmas I decided to make her a lamp from books;-)
I started with a trip to the thrift store...$2.00 for a lamp
and $1.00 for a few books, mostly on cooking as she is very interested in cooking and wants to start her own restaurant someday.
I drilled a hole through the books to fit the lamp parts and threaded the books onto the center of the lamp.
After that, I put the lamp back together and I had a customized lamp for my young reader that cost me only $3.00 and some time;-)
The pictures don't do it justice, but I was having a problem with lighting...

GOATS!

So we are now embarking on a new journey.....we have become goat farmers. It started out as a group of only two, but quickly has grown into a herd of 32+. Add to that the the llama, whose name happens to be Salami, and you have quite the group!

I grew up around animals my entire life, getting my first goat for my 10th birthday, so I am loving every minute of this.

We have mostly Boer and Boer-cross does with the exception of our Nubian momma, who I intend to milk, and our two Kiko bucks. Our plan is to raise Kiko/Boer mix for a superior meat goat.
Today the girls got some firsthand training on how to tag goats and trim their hooves;-)
They both worked like champs helping daddy. All 30+ goats tagged and trimmed. Good thing they got some training in because 90% of or does are due to kid in the next few months;-)
